We have a fully stocked veterinary pharmacy to make treating your cat as convenient as possible. In some cases, a human medication may need to be individually compounded at a specialty pharmacy to the appropriate dosage for your cat. If your cat needs this service, we will help guide you through the ordering process. To place a refill request for pick up at our clinic, please fill out the form below.

PREDNISOLONE SHORTAGE INFORMATION (UPDATED 7/6/2026):

As of May 2026, the commonly-used drug Prednisolone has been on an indefinite manufacturer backorder of their 5 mg tablets. Unfortunately, we do not have a clear idea of when we might have a stable supply available.

We want to ensure your kitty stays current on their medication, and recommend you research an outside pharmacy source for uninterrupted supply. We currently have a limited quantity of the manufacturer’s 5mg tablets and are able to dispense a small number for refill requests. We also have 20 mg tablets available but can only dispense those to clients who feel comfortable splitting the medication at home. If you feel comfortable with this option, let us know – but do keep in mind they have a tendency to “crumble” a bit.

Since prednisolone is not readily available at human pharmacies, we recommend the following:

• Costco is the only human pharmacy that regularly carries Prednisolone, and you do not need a membership to use their pharmacy. You are welcome to call Costcos in the area to see if they have it in stock; if so, we will be happy to fax it there for you.

• Various online pharmacies such as PetMeds, Chewy, AlliVet, etc., may have intermittent stock of Prednisolone available. If you find a site with it in stock, you can order from them directly. They will fax us for authorization.

• The most reliable source for Prednisolone at this time is to go through a compounding pharmacy, which can formulate a capsule, Tiny Tab, or liquid option. We have many locally, as well as a few mail order options we know of. These include:
                • Axis Pharmacy Northwest – Mountlake Terrace (capsules or liquid)
                • Katterman’s Pharmacy – Seattle off Sand Point Way (capsules or liquid)
                • Kusler’s Pharmacy – Snohomish (capsules or liquid)
                • Wedgewood Pharmacy – mail order only (liquid or Tiny Tabs)
If you would like a prescription sent to a compounding pharmacy, please let us know which one and which form you would like it in, and we will fax it for you. For liquid compounding, let us know which flavor you think your kitty would prefer.

*Please note that cats cannot have Prednisone or MethylPrednisolone as substitutes!*
