Little Cats Helping Big Cats
September 21, 2010
The Snow Leopard Trust, based here in Seattle, helps protect the endangered snow leopard while providing the people of rural Mongolia, Kyrgystan, China, and other countries with much-needed jobs. In fact, 95% of the participants in this conservation program are impoverished women in these areas. Through the Trust, they create wool toys and household items - each one an all-natural work of art – and the nomadic communities who share these mountains with snow leopards are able to sell their traditional crafts to earn income for food, medicine, and education. This exchange relieves the economic pressures that can drive herders to hunt snow leopards. Help give the snow leopard a greater chance for survival by purchasing felted wool mice for your kitties, now at Cats Exclusive!
