It didn’t take long in general veterinary practice for Dr. Wackerbarth to recognize his special affinity for feline patients. Just four years after graduating from Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine, in 1981, he opened Cats Exclusive Veterinary Center, one of the nation’s first cat-only facilities. Providing a comprehensive, cutting-edge approach to veterinary care, Dr. Wackerbarth became one of approximately 40 veterinarians nationwide licensed to use nuclear medicine to treat hyperthyroidism, a common and potentially fatal disorder affecting aging cats. He also co-founded western Washington’s first continuing education series for veterinarians. Today Dr. Wackerbarth balances his responsibilities as Medical Director of Cats Exclusive with his active nuclear medicine practice, Feline Hyperthyroid Treatment Center.
